Aruco Remote
Aruco Remote was designed as a generic companion app for boardgamesand educational exercises. You will need a set of printedcards anda server running on your computer to make it useful. Ifyou weresent here from a game or by a teacher, you'd better followtheirinstructions. :) Otherwise the main idea is that each card ortokenas well as the corners of the board are marked with anindividualAruco code (like a QR code, but smaller). When the cardsand tokensare placed on the board, you can scan them with this appto detectthe markers and send them to your computer or an onlineserver. Theprogram running there will reconstruct the placement ofcards andtokens and implement the game logic. Technical details:To use thisapp for a new game, you should pick one of the standardArucodictionaries and print a distinct marker on each unique card.Run aserver that accepts POST requests with a JSON payload overeitherhttp or https. Print a QR code with the server url andthedictionary name (e.g. DICT_6X6_100) separated by a space.Whenrunning the app for the first time, scan this QR code toconfigurethe server url and to load the dictionary. At this pointArucomarkers should show up with a green outline in the app.Touchingthe screen will send a JSON payload to your server with theimageframe size, the touch coordinates and the coordinates foreachdetected marker along with its orientation and identifier.Theimage itself is not sent over the network. When processingtherequest on the server, you can send a short line of text inyourhttp response and it will show up as a message in the app.Sourcecode is available at https://github.com/bndeff/aruco .
